Using your health insurance at Almadina Hospital

We treat patients covered by the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) and participating health maintenance organisations. Our NHIA desk checks your cover before treatment begins.

Before your visit

Bring your NHIA card and a form of identification. If you are enrolled through an HMO, bring the card or enrolment letter your HMO gave you. Our NHIA desk at reception confirms your eligibility on the day.

What your plan covers

Cover differs between plans. Consultations and many common tests and medicines are usually included. Some tests, procedures, admissions and referrals need prior authorisation from your HMO, and a few items are not covered. We tell you before a service is provided whether it is covered, needs authorisation, or will be paid for directly.

Authorisation

When a service needs authorisation, our NHIA team sends the request to your HMO and follows it up. Emergency care is never delayed while we wait.

Questions

Speak to the NHIA desk at reception, or call 0806 083 9148 and ask for the NHIA team.
