Maternity and delivery
Antenatal care, safe delivery and care for mother and baby after birth.
We care for women through pregnancy, labour and the first days after birth, with a delivery room and staff on duty 24 hours.
Antenatal care
Start antenatal care as early as you can. At each visit we check your blood pressure, weight and urine, measure the baby's growth and listen to the heartbeat. Routine tests include blood group, blood count and screening for infections. Ultrasound scans are available on site. Booking and clinic days are on our antenatal care page.
Labour and delivery
Come to the hospital when contractions are regular, when your waters break, or straight away if you have bleeding, severe headache, blurred vision or reduced baby movements. Our midwives and doctors monitor you and your baby throughout labour, and the operating theatre is available if a caesarean section is needed.
After the birth
We help you start breastfeeding, check you and your baby before you go home, and advise on immunisation and your postnatal check.
