General outpatient clinic
Consultations, diagnosis and follow-up for adults and children.
The general outpatient department (GOPD) is where most patients first see a doctor at Almadina Hospital. Our doctors assess and treat a wide range of conditions in adults and children, from fevers and infections to long-term illnesses such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
Your visit
- Register at reception, or show your hospital card if you have been before.
- A nurse records your weight, temperature and blood pressure.
- You see a doctor, who examines you and explains what they think is wrong.
- If you need tests, the laboratory and imaging units are in the same building, so most results come back to the same doctor on the same day.
- Prescriptions are filled at our pharmacy before you leave.
Follow-up and referral
Many conditions need a second visit to check that treatment is working. When you need a specialist, the doctor books you into one of our specialist clinics or refers you to another centre with a letter that explains your case.
Call 0806 083 9148 if you have questions before your visit.
