Pharmacy

Genuine medicines, prescription dispensing and medication counselling, open 24 hours.

Almadina began as a pharmacy company in 1996, so this department is where the hospital's story started. We stock medicines from reputable manufacturers and licensed distributors, and a pharmacist checks every prescription before it is dispensed.

What we do

  • Dispense prescriptions from Almadina doctors and from outside prescribers.
  • Explain how and when to take each medicine, and what to do if you miss a dose.
  • Supply medicines covered under NHIA and HMO plans, according to your plan's list.
  • Keep essential medicines, medical consumables and over-the-counter products in stock.

Bringing a prescription from elsewhere

Bring the original prescription and, if you are covered by NHIA, your NHIA card. If a medicine is out of stock we will tell you when it can be ready or suggest an alternative your prescriber can approve.

Questions about your medicines

Ask the pharmacist on duty, or call 0806 083 9148. If a side effect worries you, come to the hospital.

Common questions

Can I buy medicines without seeing a doctor?

Over-the-counter products, yes. Prescription-only medicines need a prescription from a licensed prescriber.
